For our patients’ convenience, we have a Quest Diagnostics lab technician in our office from 7am to 4pm Monday through Friday.
Once your blood is drawn, if you have not done so already, you will be given a temporary pin number and information to set up an account on GoogleHealth.com to obtain your results once they are available. For more information, please see our letter regarding Google Health. You will need to go ahead and get your account set up as soon as possible as the temporary passwords do expire.
Your specimen will be sent to the lab to be tested. Most results will be received back in our office within 3-7 days, depending on the type of test. Once received, a physician will review the results. Your results will then be made available to you on GoogleHealth.com. If the results are out of the normal range or a medication change is needed, a member of our staff will contact you via phone. If you would like a copy of your results, please contact our office to arrange for pick up. Please note that HIV results must be picked up in our office and will not be made available online.
During your office visit, if your provider orders labwork, but you are unable to have it drawn, you may come back within 7 days to have it drawn and avoid paying another copay. If 7 days passes, the labs will need to be re-ordered and you will be responsible for paying a copay for the additional visit.
Please note that if you have an insurance that requires us to utilize a lab other than Quest, you will not be able to access your results though Google Health. You will receive your results via phone and can pick up a copy at our office if desired.
Medication refills may take up to 48-72 hours to process. Do not wait until your prescription runs out. Contact your pharmacy to begin the refill process at least 3-4 days prior to running out of medication. You may also request a refill online by clicking the link to the left (you will need to sign up for an account if you don't have one already). Please note that you must keep your follow up appointments or your medications will not be refilled.
Prior Authorizations for medications – Prior authorizations may take up to 72 hours to process and in some cases, longer. To start the process, you will need to submit your prescription to the pharmacy. If a precertification is required, the pharmacy will contact our office. At that time, a member of our staff will contact your insurance company to obtain approval. To help speed up the process, be sure that our office has on record any previous medications that you have tried before.
Many pharmacies allow you to submit refill requests online. For your convenience, we have compiled the links for several pharmacies in the area offering this service:

Most managed care companies, such as HMO and POS insurance plans, will require a referral. You will need to see a MaxHealth provider in order to obtain one. Should you have a specific specialist you would like to see, please inform the provider or referral coordinator. After the provider orders the referral, your insurance carrier will be contacted by our referral coordinator to get authorization. The response time from insurance plans varies.
Once we receive approval, the information will be faxed to the requested specialist and then you will either receive a phone call from us or receive a copy of the referral via mail (depending on your insurance). It can take from 1-5 business days to complete the referral process. You may call and make an appointment with the approved specialist once you receive notice from our office via mail or phone. Do not go to your appointment without an approval as you may be turned away or billed personally for services. Should you need to make a change to a referral or get a referral extended, please call our office at least one week in advance.
Please note that some insurance plans, such as PPO’s, do not require a referral for specialist visits. Likewise, physical therapy, ob/gyn visits and mammograms do not always require a referral, depending on your plan. Contact your insurance if you are unsure.
Diagnostic testing may be ordered for a multitude of conditions to rule out or confirm a diagnosis. Should your provider order a diagnostic test such as a CT, MRI or Ultrasound, our office will obtain authorization from your insurance company if necessary and then contact the facility that will perform the test to provide them with your information. In most cases, the facility will call you to schedule an appointment. You should receive a call from the facility within 1-5 business days.
