Licensed Clinical Psychologist

  • Licensed Clinical Psychologist since 2005

  • Board Certified in Neurofeedback since 2001

Dr. Townsend earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine at the University of North Texas (UNT). She also received her QEEG and EEG Biofeedback training there under the direction of Dr. Genie Bodenhamer-Davis. Dr. Townsend has served as the Neurotherapy Lab’s QEEG Coordinator and helped develop and teach the University’s Introduction to QEEG and Intermediate QEEG courses. She has lectured on EEG biofeedback and other clinical topics at the UNT Health Science Center. In addition, she has been involved in research presented at numerous state, national and international conferences and has taught EEG Biofeedback Certification courses.

In 2011, Dr. Townsend teamed up with Dr. Bullard and brought her expertise to MaxHealth to evaluate and treat patients with often debilitating emotional or brain-performance related conditions. She has been instrumental in training Acuity Brain Center staff as well as assessing and treating ABC patients. Dr. Townsend specializes in QEEG analysis and EEG and peripheral biofeedback, and is an expert in combining this technique with counseling to treat conditions such as sleep difficulty, inattention, anxiety, and depression. She finds so many aspects of her work rewarding, but the most exciting is when she is able to look at someone’s brainwaves, tell them why they are feeling the way they do, and then work with them to change their life for the better.

Outside of work, Dr. Townsend spends most of her spare time volunteering for several local, national, and international non-profits. She also loves to travel.
